Prof. Roman Buckow

Centre of Food Science at La Trobe University

Roman Buckow is a Professor of Food Science and the Director of the Centre for Food Science at La Trobe’s Institute for Sustainable Agriculture & Food at La Trobe University. He previously served as Professor of Practice in Food Engineering at the University of Sydney. Over his extensive career, he has held key positions, including Principal Scientist and Research Manager at CSIRO, and Chief Technology Officer at All G Foods, a biotech startup pioneering next-generation dairy and meat products. Buckow specialises in sustainable food and beverage manufacturing, bioprocessing and novel food fermentation, alternative proteins, and the creation of safe, healthy foods using advanced processing technologies. He earned both his MSc and PhD in Food and Bioprocess Engineering from the Berlin University of Technology, Germany.
